Privacy Policy — RTNW (Run the Norwegian Way)

Who we are

RTNW ("the app", "we", "us") is an adaptive running-training app. This policy explains what data the app handles and how. For any privacy question, contact: support@runnorwegian.com.

The short version

RTNW stores your training data locally on your device. We do not have user accounts, we do not use advertising, and we do not sell your data. Your training data stays on your phone unless you choose to remove it. The one exception is subscriptions: if you start a free trial or subscribe, purchase information is handled by Google Play and our payment provider RevenueCat to activate and validate your subscription.

What data the app handles, and why

All of the following is stored only on your device:

Profile and goals — the name you enter, your training availability, and a recent race time you provide. Used to generate and personalize your training plan.
Precise location (GPS) — used only while a run is active, to measure distance and pace. Location is processed on your device to calculate the run; it is not transmitted to us or anyone else, and the app does not track your location in the background when you are not running.
Activity and training data — completed runs, durations, distances, perceived-effort (RPE) ratings, readiness check-ins, and your estimated threshold over time. Used to adapt your plan and show progress.

The app does not collect your contacts, photos, messages, or device identifiers for tracking. We do not collect or store your payment-card details — payment is handled entirely by Google Play (see Subscriptions below).

Where your data is stored

On your device only, in the app's local storage. We do not have a copy. We have no servers that receive your personal data.

Permissions the app requests

Location (precise/approximate) — to record distance and pace during a run. You can decline; the run timer still works, but distance and pace will be unavailable. You can revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.

Subscriptions and payments

RTNW offers an optional premium subscription with a free trial. If you choose to subscribe:

Google Play processes the payment. We never see or store your card details. Google's handling of your data is governed by the Google Privacy Policy.
RevenueCat (our subscription-management provider, acting as our data processor) receives limited purchase information — such as your purchase and renewal status and an app-generated anonymous identifier — solely to activate, validate, and restore your subscription. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or training data. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.

This purchase information is used only to manage your subscription — never for advertising, and we do not sell it.

Sharing and selling

We do not sell, rent, or disclose your personal data to third parties, and we do not use advertising SDKs or advertising identifiers. The only third party that receives any data is RevenueCat (and Google Play), and only the subscription information described above, only if you subscribe.

Data retention and deletion

Your training data remains on your device until you delete it. You can erase everything at any time using Me → Reset all data in the app, or by uninstalling the app. Because we hold no copy of your training data, uninstalling removes it entirely. Subscription records held by Google Play and RevenueCat are retained by those providers according to their own policies; you can manage or cancel your subscription in Google Play, and contact us at support@runnorwegian.com for any subscription-data request.

Children's privacy

RTNW is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Your rights

Because your data lives only on your device and we hold no copy, you are in direct control of it. If you are in the EU/EEA, the GDPR rights of access, rectification, erasure, and portability are satisfied by this on-device control. If that ever changes (for example, if we introduce cloud sync), we will update this policy and provide the corresponding mechanisms.

Security

Your data is held in the app's private storage area, protected by your device's operating system and any device lock you have set. Keeping your device updated and locked is the best protection for on-device data.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the app handles data — for instance when we add optional cloud sync, wearable integrations, or subscriptions — we will update this policy and its effective date, and where appropriate ask for your consent in-app.
